Joel McGarvey

Head Pastor

Pastor Joel McGarvey and his wife Lynn came to Twin Valley Alliance in 2011 after serving for 15 years as missionaries in the countries of Peru and Argentina.

Both Joel and Lynn were raised in upstate New York and met while studying at Nyack College.  They have two adult children: Laura, recently married, and Daniel, a student at Messiah College.

Pastor Joel enjoys reading in his spare time and loves the game of soccer.  He also has an identical twin, but since he lives 250 miles away, you don’t need to worry about getting them mixed up.

Pastor Joel’s greatest joy in ministry is teaching the Word of God and seeing people grow in their faith

Cory Simpson

Social Media / Web Administrator / Youth Leader

Cory Simpson’s journey in ministry began when he was just eight years old at his home church in California—a young boy with a big heart, eager to serve. What started as small steps of helping out quickly became a lifelong calling. Over the years, his passion for ministry grew alongside his skills, especially in the world of audio and visual technology. He started by learning the basics and eventually became a camera operator for his church’s television ministry. With time, dedication, and a servant’s heart, Cory worked his way up to Technical Director, helping to bring God’s message to life through every broadcast.

After moving to Williamstown, Cory brought that same passion with him, pouring his time, talents, and heart into the community. Today, he serves as the Social Media and Website Administrator at Twin Valley Alliance Church, where his ministry continues to flourish. But his role goes far beyond screens and servers—on Sunday mornings, Cory arrives early to help feed breakfast to children with other Youth Leaders, creating a warm and welcoming space for the youngest members of the church family. During the worship service, he faithfully runs the church’s live stream, ensuring that those watching from home can still feel connected to the heart of the church.
Cory’s commitment to young people runs deep. He serves as a youth leader at Twin Valley, walking alongside teens with encouragement, wisdom, and genuine care on Sunday evenings.

He also serves in The Gate Ministry, a school-year youth program that meets right at the church, offering students a place to belong, grow, and explore their faith.
His impact doesn’t stop at the church doors. Cory gives his time as a Check & Connect Volunteer Student Engagement Intervention Mentor at Williams Valley Jr./Sr. High School, where he meets with students one-on-one, encouraging them to stay engaged in school and life. At Williams Valley Elementary, he spends time with children during their lunch periods, simply being a kind and steady presence in their day.

Every Wednesday during the school year, Cory is involved in The Narrow Way Christian After-School Program at Williams Valley Jr./Sr. High School, where he helps guide students in faith, character, and purpose. He’s also an active part of The Men of Williams Valley, a local Christian brotherhood committed to “sharpening iron”—supporting one another to become better men, husbands, fathers, uncles, and role models in their homes and communities.

Cory’s life is a powerful reflection of servant-hearted leadership. Whether he's behind a camera, mentoring a student, or simply listening over a school lunch, he shows up with compassion, consistency, and love. Through every act, big or small, Cory lives out his faith with quiet strength and unwavering dedication, building bridges between people and God, one heart at a time
