Friend of God: The Lord Will Provide
Jun 21, 2026 • Joel McGarvey
In Genesis 22, Abraham faces one of the greatest tests of faith recorded in Scripture. God calls him to offer Isaac, the son of promise, and Abraham responds with obedience and trust.
Yet this passage is not only about Abraham’s faith. It is also a powerful foreshadowing of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross.
On the mountain, God provided a ram in Isaac’s place. At Calvary, God provided His own Son in our place.
Genesis 22 points us to the heart of the gospel: we are saved not by the sacrifice we bring to God, but by the sacrifice God has provided for us through Jesus Christ.
