Shortly before Jesus entered Jerusalem, He raised Lazarus from the dead. News of this incredible miracle spread like wildfire, and excitement surrounding Jesus continued to grow.

As Jerusalem prepared for Passover, the crowds welcomed Jesus with praise and celebration. Many believed He was the King who would overthrow Rome and restore Israel’s political freedom.

But they misunderstood Him.

They wanted a conqueror, but Jesus came as a Savior.

They wanted freedom from Rome, but Jesus came to bring freedom from sin.

They wanted an earthly kingdom, but Jesus came to establish an eternal Kingdom.

Jesus entered Jerusalem humbly, riding on a donkey and fulfilling the prophecy of Zechariah 9:9. He was not

simply another earthly ruler. He was—and forever will be—the King of kings and Lord of lords.

When the Pharisees demanded that Jesus silence His disciples, He answered:

“I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out.” — Luke 19:40

The crowds praised Jesus, but many failed to understand who He truly was. The same question remains for

us today:

Do we worship Jesus for who He truly is, or only for who we want Him to be?
