More Than a Ritual

Communion is more than a church tradition or religious ritual. It is a sacred act given to the Church by Jesus Christ.

The bread reminds us of the body of Jesus, willingly given for us. The cup reminds us of His blood, poured out for the forgiveness of sins and the establishment of the new covenant.

When believers participate in Communion, we remember the sacrifice of Christ, examine our hearts, give thanks for God’s grace, celebrate our unity as the body of Christ, and proclaim the Gospel until Jesus returns.

Paul warned the Corinthian church not to approach the Lord’s Table carelessly or without recognizing its significance. Communion should never become something we do automatically without prayerful thought and attention.
