Friend of God: Children of Promise
Jun 14, 2026 • Joel McGarvey
In Genesis 21, we see the long-awaited birth of Isaac, the son God had promised to Abraham and Sarah. Isaac’s birth reminds us that God is faithful and that His promises are fulfilled in His timing and by His power.
But in Galatians 4:21–31, the Apostle Paul uses this story to teach a powerful gospel truth. We are not accepted by God because of our own works, effort, or religious performance. We are accepted because of Christ.
This message reminds us that the Christian life is not about living as slaves trying to earn God’s approval. Through Jesus, we are children of promise, set free by grace and called to live in the freedom of the gospel.
